Configuring dial-up PPP (Planet Pre-paid)

Click on K -> Internet -> Internet Connection Tools -> Configure Internet Connection

Enter root password when prompted. You will not see anything appear on the screen. This is normal.

A dialog box will appear giving some information. Read and then press any key to continue.

ISP Name:   planet
Modem Device:    Autodectected
ISP Number:    90106400
Username: As on card - is case sensitive
Password: As on card - is case sensitive
Are these details correct? Review details and then if correct press Y
(press any key)

Usually when connected KDialog will say "You successfully connected to the internet." Sometimes it times out and gives the wrong message "You failed to connect to the internet." Use  CD light on modem to see if connected or not; KDialog might be wrong.

If setting up at Computerbank don't forget to place some shortcuts to connect to the internet and disconnect to the internet on the desktop. Monitor Internet Connection is also useful to include.

To debug why you are not connecting go to K-> Internet -> Internet Connection Tools -> Watch Internet Connection. Type the root password when prompted. This will show you information that can help diagnose the problem if any occur.

Additional Information

If the connection does not work it may be you need to input DNS numbers. If you need to do this when the utility asks for ISP name put in iprimus.  The DNS numbers are included below.
Primary DNS: 210.80.150.4
Secondary DNS: 202.155.74.4

Normally when you get a new $10 card or recharge your existing one (using credit card details over the phone), you get a new username and password.  However you can keep the same username if you get a $40 card.

Planet cards can be purchased at places that sell international phone cards.  We will list a few soon.

Planet prepaid support can sometimes help Linux users. Ask for Brian.
