How to: Disabling Auto-login

To disable auto-login, follow these steps:

  1.  Launch Control Center (K Menu > Control Center)
  2.  Click on the System Administration drop down button in the left pane of Control Center
  3.  Click on Login Manager from the drop down menu
  4.  Click on the Convenience tab in the right pane
  5.  Click on the Administrator Mode button on the bottom left of the right pane
  6.  Supply the root password
  7.  Uncheck the Enable auto-login button
  8.  Click on the Apply button on the bottom right of the window
  9.  Close Control Center

Next time you start the computer (or login as a different user), instead of automatically loading the desktop, a login box (similar to the one on page 6 of this guide) will appear and users will be prompted to login with their username and password.
