HP PSC Setup and Use Guide for Computerbank Computers

Overview
This document describes how to set up a HP PSC all in one printer on a Computerbank Linux computer.
Important
Before attempting any of the following steps please ensure that your HP PSC is connected to your computer, plugged in and turned on. Don't forget to add paper.
Setup Your HP PSC
- Make sure your printer is turned on and plugged in to your computer.
- Click the K menu, go to Settings and click Setup my HP Printer.
- Enter the root password for your computer (usually cbvsys).
- Follow the wizard by selecting the correct option for your printer.
- Print a test page to ensure the printer is working correctly.
Using HP-Tools to Check Ink Levels
- Click the K menu, go to Settings then Printers and click on HPLIP Toolbox.
- Click on the Supplies tab to change to it; You will see displayed the levels of ink remaining in your printer.
Using HP-Tools to Clean Print Cartridges
- Click the K menu, go to Settings then Printers and click on HPLIP Toolbox.
- Click on the Tools & Settings tab to change to it; scroll down until you see Clean Cartridges and press the button beside it Clean Cartridges...
- Press Continue to complete the cartridge cleaning.
Using HP-Tools to Clean Print Cartridges
- Click the K menu, go to Settings then Printers and click on HPLIP Toolbox.
- Click on the Tools & Settings tab to change to it; scroll down until you see Align Cartridges and press the button beside it Align Cartridges...
- Press Next > and follow the instructions given on screen.
Scan a Document With Your HP PSC
- Click the K menu, go to Graphics then Scanning and click on XSane.
- XSane should automatically detect your HP PSC and ask you to confirm it for use, Press the OK button.
- Now that Xsane is open press the Scan button; when the scan is complte a new window opens titled Viewer, change to this window and use the menu to save by clicking File, Save choose a location to save the file, type a name and press Save.
Notes
If your printer was set up at Computerbank, by default the printer is set to print in black and white. Please choose the colour printing option to print in colour.
Disks supplied with the printer are for installing the device under Windows. They are not required for Linux set up.
