Philosophy on Volunteering
Computerbank believes that volunteering within the organisation should:
- provide people with a way to be involved in making a contribution to the well-being and opportunites of disadvantaged communities
- provide people with opportunities to participate in the building process of Computerbank
- provide people with the opportunity to enhance existing skills and knowledge, gain confidence and experience, and explore work and career options
- provide people with opportunites to have contact with other people and to be actively involved in the community
Volunteers Rights
Volunteers at Computerbank have the right to:
- know as much about the organisation as possible
- receive training for the job
- receive sound guidance and direction
- participate across all facets of the organisation
- be heard and consulted
- work in a safe and supportive environment
- be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses
- have their contributions recognised and respected.
Volunteers Responsibilities
Volunteers at Computerbank are expected to:
- make realistic commitments, in terms of both time and areas of involvement, and the organisation will expect these commitments to be filled
- keep all details of recipients confidential and private unless prior consent has been obtained from the recipient and the Coordinator
- value and support all recipients, other volunteers, and others in a way that is non-judgemental and non-discriminatory
- follow any policies, procedures and occupational safety guidelines that are in place (<-added on 24/02/05 - because this should be in here!)
