Technical and Distro Report

 Another successful month for the new distro with no major bugs showing their ugly heads

And this is the changes we made in November

November 2006

1/ We updated foomatic-db, foomatic-db-gimpprint, foomatic-db-gutenprint, aspell-en, gphoto2

2/ On the Root Account and changed the default font size to 14 and changed the background colour from Red to a Light Orange

3/ Set Firefox Min Font size to 14 to make it easier to read

4/ Open Office, turned on Previews for pictures in the "insert image" dialog

5/ Changed permissions on the Internet Connection and Disconnection menu items so the user doesn't have to login as root to use them.

Things to change in /etc/sudoers add these lines

%martian ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/martian_helper %martian ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/local/

Then "addgroup martian", this also need to be included for the user "addgroup user martian", we also needed to add the martian group to the addgroup section of the adduser.sh script. To make access easier we moved the pon.sh and poff.sh scripts to /usr/local/. Also we changed the menu items to use sudo instead of running as root.

6/ Updated xmms to latest version

7/ Modified the video.sh script for the setting up of computers to have more drivers and a more intuitive setup (This is more an internal tweak than for clients)
