Coordinators Report for June 2009

General News

A reasonable month with over 46 computers out the door to individuals and community groups. We added another 2 computers to the new computer room at Holmes St and provided two computers to the Somali community. Footscray flats picked up the last of their 3 computers which were imaged with our network software distribution.

The brainstorming meeting went well, a better turn out would have been nice. Many thanks to Jan for organising the meeting and to Darce for facilitating. Thanks to all those who came along and had a say. From this meeting two sub committees formed - a policy group and an ideas group.

Fantastic donations received from Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE (NMIT) - 80+ PC's and LCD screens and Interact Employment - 40 computers including some dual core P4s. The quality of individual donations coming through the front door has also been impressive.

The Work for the Dole project is still only half full and attendance is minimal. Wednesday is particularly quiet - some volunteers are attending too. We have a monitoring visit coming up.

Welcome to new volunteers Mark, Dave and Alex, all three are planning on helping in the build room. It is great to see many new faces attending regularly. It is now more important than ever for people to let us know if they are coming or not. Sometimes too many people are scheduled for the build room, we need to avoid this by alternating people.
