Coordinator's Report July 2005

General News

This time around it has been fairly quite for a change, with just the usual going on. :)

Couple of things to note, EWB attended a 'train the trainer' session with Barry, and Adam delivered training to a group of Burmese speaking folk. Thanks Barry and Adam.

We received some publicity during June/July, via appearances in the Australian IT and the Age Green Guide. The media resulted in an increase in donations and applications.

Our front desk volunteer problem seems to be solved, big thanks to Jodie, Jan, David and Con.

Computers Out

June = 29, Irene Warehouse (an art collective), and the Church of Hope received computers this month. July = 26, the Indigenous Solidarity Network received a network and a laptop is being sent to East Timor to be used in the Oecussi office of Caritas.

Waiting List

There is about a 2-3 week wait for stand alone computers. The wait for a network is around two months (this is related to resourcing / training issues).

Donations

We received some great donations over the past few months, many of them being PIII class. Donations were received from the Orygen Research Group, CSR Emolium, and Monsanto.

Plus many donations from individuals.

Projects

WFD Project

The current WFD project will finish on August 18th, while a new project for six months will start on the 19th.

The WFD program continues to excel, participants are very keen and efficient, builds are being done with less than one hour turn around. As a result of this efficiency, build requests are being kept back closer to the date they are due.

In more recent weeks, WFD participants have being helping to mark up documentation.

Finances

June Income (non WFD) = 2584.86

July Income (non WFD) = 1847.65

All our end of year tax, super and workcover obligations have been met, and we are currently finalising the details for our end of year audit.
