Time for updates on whats happening with CAI-SA, incorporating at no extra
cost "Damned Lies" and the all new, all dancing, all singing, all leather
"Technology Report" as compiled by the Grate Secretarial Spirit and his team
of trained cromwells.
EVENTS
Address to LinuxSA
Romana evangalised the well nature of being involved in any way shape or form
with Computerbank, and most verily did she win their hearts, aye, such that
their volunteering was six-fold and their donations five score in the
currency of the land and even offers unto possible premises, and there was
much rejoicing.
InstallFest
Thursday 3rd of October, 2002. Eight good people, tried and true, convened
with romana at her worthy lodgings where they feasted on a veritable banquet
of testing, cursing and ETC! of hardware. Installs achieved in glorious
idiom and the afternoon was spent celebrating the possiblities of many
smaller hardy drives ( experimenting with re-allocating swap during process,
editing fstab and migrating home and var) Greatly successful and much learnt
by new volunteers. And great was their rejoicing.

Premises
Romana has pursued The Hut's offer, which is on hold at the moment, but they
are bearing us in mind when space becomes available. Possibilities from
LinuxSA were expressed.
ENQUIRIES
Five bold fellows did approach and sue for assistance in their battles
against poverty, lack of connectivity and all things generally Bill-y. And
stony ground was not found beneath where their entreaties fell and well may
they rest comfortable in the hope of succour.
UPCOMING EVENTS
A mighty gathering of +2 familiarisation and whipping of enthusiasm (lucky
^%$#@^$!) generated by the Romana of Ineffable Wisdom at LinuxSA, as
perpetuated in the annals of same as trawled by She. All new and interested
parties (volunteers, members, hyper-intelligent shades of the colour blue,
small furry creatures from alpha-centauri, you know, the usual suspects) will
be accorded the hospitality and enlightenment for which the realm holds this
venerable institution in such fame.

Ineffable Wisdom much relief, affording Her the opportunity to co-ordinate
her branch and occasionally sleep, eat and little things like that:

You have been warned!
Secretarial roles will be trialled on the rotating knives basis. (i.e.
call/plea/mighty cry of monthly resoundingness for fools
(/s/fools/volunteers). The ineffably wise romana may be forced to assign such
role to unwilling victims dragged to the altar of secretarialness if none are
forthcoming. Be warned - look on my works ye mighty and despair!) Secretaries
will be expected to coordinate monthly meetings, minutes for same, mock up
monthly reports and perform a brief operetta illustrating the human condition
in two acts or less. Robes (black or white, according to wont) provided.
Monthly meetings to begin as of November. Suggestions for bat times, bat
places etc are to be expressed vehemently and emotionally (or not) to this
months lucky secretary, cromwell (aka foolish sacrificial secretarial
volunteer).
The following positions desperately require incumbents (i.e. are still
amongst the under-hats worn by romana). These vital roles require
dedication and a good sense of humour, so if ye doubt ye courage one wit,
then step naye further, for enlightenment and fullfillment await ye all with
much rejoicing and ineffable wisdom. Training provided for all but it helps
if you bring your own humour.

TECHNOLOGY AND HARDWARE REPORT
Donations
Galleleo provided 3 complete Compaq Digital (Venturis & Digital PC, 200MMX
with 32Mb RAM) systems, some older boxes and parts in various stages of
workingness. All ready for installs (midnight oil singing courtesy of Peter
(Tech Co-ord) but could use more RAM.
Current H/W Issues
Severe lack of supported video cards and RAM (standard EDO or fast page)
which is holding us back from providing. Moaning and wailing and gnashing
of teeth.
Incomplete familiarity with EPROM based BIOS'.
(also the totally Windows based nature of this process so far.)
Documentation
A documentation process has been drafted and is undergoing further refinement
by Peter (TechCo-ord). Hallowed be his name. And there was much rejoicing.
