Present: Kylie Davies, Bill McPherson, Peter Eckersley, David Totterdell, Patricia Fraser, Malcolm Just Apologies:

Meeting opened at 7pm.

On arrival at Horticultural Hall we met members of the Pelargonium Society, who were holding a meeting there on the same night, and they kindly showed us several tricks with the lighting system and pointed out an unused storage area to us. They are very friendly and accommodating, and we discussed working in with them to make sure we didn't interrupt any of their shows and large functions. David Totterdell mapped the keys we have to the various locks and the light switches to the lights. This information is being held by Kylie, and copies will be available when we have more sets of keys. The keys are security keys and arrangements have to be made by Parks Victoria to have copies made.

David announced that he has opened the CBV bank account.

Bill proposed that CBV write a letter of thanks to Bruce McCubbery for all the help he has given CBV, particularly in sourcing premises. Patricia is to do this and email a copy to the committee for approval. A letter will also be written to Ivar Nelsen of Heritage Victoria to let him know we have successfully moved in to Horticultural Hall.

Kylie asked whether Bruce might assist in bringing CBNSW up to speed, since they needed support to get their organisation up and running

As part of this discussion, the auspicing by CBV of all the Australian Computerbank Projects was brought up, with the suggestion that, as part of becoming the umbrella organisation, we might find out what is required to change our name to Computerbank Inc. Patricia is to check this out, beginning with a call to Clayton Utz.

CRAV Report
- Kylie reported on the CRAV meeting she attended. This meeting covered many issues; PCs for Kids may not join; ERNi may not join - although the CEO of ERNi is very much in favour, the ERNi committee may not vote for it; there is to be a meeting on Friday April 14th at RecreuitNet Collingwood. It has been suggested that the organisation may be a division of RecruitNet, to be called SCRAP, to expand and utilise the recycling RecruitNet is already doing. SCRAP is to stand for Special Computer Recycling Assistance Program.

Workshops
- The first workshop is to be held at Horticultural Hall on Saturday April 15th. Peter Eckersley to co-ordinate.

Proposal Progress
- Tim is printing and binding copies of the proposal sent to Networking the Nation, these will be available shortly for distribution to other potential funding sources.

Bill mentioned that he thinks the proposal is excellent, and commended the organisation for its quality.

Other Items
David reported that the Victorian Deaf Society have built a group house in Nunawading for people with multiple disabilities. David has been invited to go and speak to them regarding computers. He says they may require hardware, and asks whether they would be a suitable recipient; the meeting thought they would proabably be eligible. When commenting on the possibility of people with multiple disabilities and their special needs, we wondered whether a simple system with KDE, some games and the ability to surf the net would be suitable, or whether they would be better off using a RecruitNet system with Windows; David will talk to them first.

David will research Insurance prices and policies and report back to the next meeting.

Meeting closed at 9pm.

Next Meeting: 10th April, 7pm at Horticultural Hall.
